Sony Xperia J Review

At the end of August 2012, a new smartphone Sony Xperia J was announced, which can be attributed to the middle segment of the market, that is, the smartphone does not have outstanding characteristics, but at the same time it is very productive, with a good display and other characteristics. Xperia J is positioned as a youth model.

Appearance

Sony Xperia J is made in a classic way: almost the entire front surface is occupied by the display, on which the front camera, speaker, sensors and company logo are located, and under it are touch control keys; on the back, made of velvety plastic, there is a main camera with LED flash, slots for the speaker and the Xperia logo. The back of the device is slightly curved, which is reminiscent of the style of the Arc smartphone.

The device was assembled well: we did not notice any squeaks or backlash during operation.

Ergonomics of the body is excellent: the device fits comfortably in the hand, the material is pleasant to the touch.

Xperia J measures 124.3x61.2x9.2mm and weighs 124g.

The gadget will be available in black, white, pink and gold colors.

Performance and software

Sony Xperia J is based on a 1-core processor Qualcomm MSM7227A clocked at 1 GHz, Adreno 200 graphics accelerator and 512 MB RAM. These characteristics allow you to very successfully cope with everyday tasks and applications, but with modern resource-demanding games, the situation is much worse: there are freezes, braking and other inconveniences.

The permanent memory in the device is 4 GB, but it can be increased with the help of microSD cards. The device is running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

Xperia J has the following pre-installed applications: browser, email client, audio and video players, Google Talk, Twitter, conferencing, instant messaging services, and some other programs and games.

The smartphone supports Wi-Fi (hotspot), Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS and 3G networks.

Note that the gadget has a handwriting recognition function.

Screen

Sony Xperia J is equipped with a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display, made using TFT technology, with a resolution of 854x480 pixels and color reproduction at 16 777 216 shades. The screen is securely protected from external mechanical effects with a special glass Gorilla Glass.

The image looks quite clearly, naturally and bright. In general, the screen is quite ordinary, without any features - well reacts to touch, the picture is quite high-quality, although the viewing angles are not very large.

Camera

In Sony Xperia J, a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus functions, an image stabilizer, geotegeging, focusing, is used.

The smartphone allows you to take pictures with a maximum resolution of 2592x1944 pixels and record videos in VGA format at a speed of 30 frames per second.

Qualitative photos, unfortunately, are obtained only with good lighting, so we can say that the LED flash cope with its responsibilities.

Also in Xperia J there is a frontal VGA camera for video links.

Battery

The novelty has a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1750 mAh, which, according to Documentation, should be enough for 5 hours 36 minutes of autonomous work in a conversation mode (GSM network), for 7 hours 18 minutes in the Talk mode for UMTS-networks, by 618 hours - in standby mode, up to 39 hours 24 minutes - in listening mode Music and for 8 hours 30 minutes - in video viewing mode.

In practice, the indicators were much more modest: the batteries were hard enough for a day with not very intensive use.

Price

In Russia, the recommended value of Sony Xperia J - 10 990 rubles.
