Today we take a look at the new Amazon Kindle Fire HD with a 7-inch display. Everything that users did not like in the first version (including the Playbook style), the Internet giant tried to improve in the new device. Let's see what we managed to do.

Appearance
Meet the Kindle Fire HD. Now it's faster, stronger, lighter, thinner and looks better too. Moving on from the original, the company opted for an aluminum strip and curved edges, but otherwise it's just a black rectangle that runs on Android.
The design, in our opinion, has improved significantly. Amazon Kindle Fire HD has become more original and elegant. At the same time, the new model uses some improvements (such as a smaller frame around the screen), which is more attractive compared to the old model.
Kindle Fire HD measures 193mm x 137mm x 10.3mm, 1.1mm thinner than the original, but slightly wider and taller. So while there is no significant change in size, the curved edges and rounded corners make it look and feel much thinner to users.
Tablet weight - 395 gr.

Performance and Software
Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7 is based on a 1.2 GHz TI OMAP 4460 dual-core processor, PowerVR graphics accelerator SGX544, 1 GB RAM.
The performance of the device, of course, has increased when compared with the first version of the Kindle Fire tablet, but is inferior to gadgets running on a 4-core nVidia Tegra 3 processor. a tablet is usually sufficient for everyday tasks: it plays HD video perfectly, you can play 3D games, surf the Internet.
In the device, 16 or 32 GB of permanent memory is provided, but a slot for maps microSD is missing, so that the memory cannot be increased. This is one of the essential minuses of the device.
Kindle Fire HD running the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, but will probably be updated to Android 4.1 soon.
The tablet has pre-installed programs: browser, video player, email client, Audio player, integration with social networks, other applications and games.
The gadget supports work Wi-Fi.
Note that the disadvantage of software is the lack of localization, that is, almost all Amazon services are customized to work with the United States. Therefore, after the acquisition, it is necessary to establish an alternative firmware that will allow you to fully use the tablet computer.

The device is equipped with a 7-inch sensory capacitive display, made using technology IPS by the company LG, with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels and color reproduction of 16 million shades. The top layer is combined with the matrix so that there is no air layer, therefore the amount of glare and the effect of the outer illumination is reduced.
The viewing angles are very broad. It was possible to achieve with the help of an additional polarization filter.
The image is high-quality, colors are saturated and bright, but there is a problem of the uneven illumination, which is especially noticeable when the dark background is displayed.
Camera
Kindle Fire HD is equipped with a front camera that allows you to capture video in HD format for video link.
Battery
The device is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 4400 mAh, which is enough for 7.5-8.5 hours of operation (a couple of hours Using Wi-Fi, a couple of hours reading, a couple of hours watching video and games). According to the manufacturer's battery, it should be enough for 11 hours of operation, so if you turn off the Wi-Fi module, then this indicator can be achieved.
